We’re Becoming digitalLIFT!

digitalLIFT

We’re excited to announce that as of April 21, Community Tech Network will be known as digitalLIFT. Why the change? We found that “Community Network” sometimes made folks think we provided internet service, and “Tech” made us sound a little too high-tech. Our new name, digitalLIFT, better reflects what we really do—lifting communities through digital literacy. It’s shorter, clearer, and a better fit for where we’re headed. Same mission, new name!

Free Internet Safety

Cybersecurity is no longer optional—Americans lost over $12.5 billion to internet scams in 2023 (FBI IC3). In response, we’ve made our Internet Safety Curriculum and Teaching Internet Safety & Responsibility online course completely free. These resources are designed for digital literacy instructors and learners alike, covering everyday internet risks and providing practical tools to stay safe. Help your learners build the skills they need to be safe, smart digital citizens.

Board Spotlight: Andrew Broderick—At digitalLIFT, our board members bring deep expertise, lived experience, and a shared commitment to advancing digital equity for all. This month, we are proud to spotlight Andrew Broderick, a member of our Development Committee whose career has been shaped by decades of leadership at the intersection of technology, health, aging, and community impact.Andrew believes meaningful advocacy begins with personal experience. "Everyone has personal experiences of the challenges and barriers that digital inclusion presents... raising our voice to collectively demand supportive policy and funding to close the digital divide benefits everyone."His message is clear: share your story, speak up, and support the policies and investments that make digital equity possible for every community.Read the full story: digitallift.org/board-spotlight-andrew-broderick/#AndrewBroderick #DigitalInclusion #DigitalEquity #digitalLIFT ...

Learner Spotlight: A Learner's Journey to Digital Independence—One of the greatest joys of teaching digital literacy is witnessing the confidence that grows with every new skill learned. During our Solano Connected Spanish digital literacy class, I had the privilege of working with R.T., whose determination and perseverance were truly inspiring. When R.T. joined the program, she had little to no digital literacy experience. Despite feeling nervous on the first day, she arrived with something even more important than experience—a genuine desire to learn.Like many first-time technology users, R.T. was afraid of damaging the tablet. She carefully held the device, worried that pressing the wrong button would break it. I reassured her that she could safely explore, make mistakes, and learn without fear. From that moment on, she approached every lesson with patience and determination.By the end of the program, R.T. had gained much more than technical skills—she had gained confidence, independence, and new opportunities. The rest of the story: digitallift.org/learner-spotlight-a-learners-journey-to-digital-independen#DigitalIndependencede#solanoconnectedec#DigitalLiteracyer#digitalliftlLIFT ...
