Digital Inclusion Week (DIW) is an annual opportunity to raise awareness about solutions that address home internet access, access to digital devices, and local technology training programs. Spearheaded by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA), DIW activities were organized by more than 39 affiliated organizations in the U.S.
To celebrate Digital Inclusion Week, CTN Austin hosted two Tech Teach-In (TTI) events focused on providing digital skills training to older adults. The first event was provided in partnership with Google Fiber employees for residents at Wildflower Terrace, a Family Eldercare senior housing community. Adobe employees volunteered at the AGE Computer Lab and helped seniors for the second event.
CTN wrapped up their DIW activities by throwing a party! The Digital Empowerment Community of Austin (DECA) and CTN facilitated an event at Google Fiber for nearly 100 people, follow this link to see pictures. The lineup of speakers was long, but it was necessary to showcase some of the great digital equity work happening throughout the city. The speakers included

We also had folks from Capital Factory’s VR Lab on hand to showcase some of their VR equipment.
