Our First Fundraising Dinner a Huge Success!

  • November 19, 2014
  • General

It’s hard to believe our very first Making Waves gala is already behind us. Last Thursday, nearly 90 of CTN’s closest supporters gathered at the Golden Gate Yacht Club to kick off another great year of work ahead.

Guests had the opportunity to mingle and share their perspectives about how technology impacts all our lives, learn more about CTN’s mission, and hear some amazing stories about how the Ready, Set, Connect! program has transformed people’s lives. Our generous friends and partners donated over $15,000 — or enough to provide support for 12 Ready, Set, Connect! interns next year!

Special thanks for an amazing evening go to the Golden Gate Yacht Club, emcee Tom Ehman, volunteer servers from the Associate Members of the Yacht Club, sponsors Stash Wines, TechSoup, and BetterWorld Wireless, and Andrea Guzman for sharing her powerful story.

If you weren’t able to join us and want to contribute, visit our donation page. We’re already working on next year’s event, so stay tuned!

Associate members of the Golden Gate Yacht Club and event volunteers: Alex Vidal, Joe Tattersall, and Rob Corsi

Thank You, NCOA: Advancing Digital Safety and Confidence for Older Adults—At digitalLIFT, we believe that everyone deserves the knowledge and confidence to navigate today's digital world safely. Thanks to the generous support of the National Council on Aging (NCOA) (connect.ncoa.org/), we were able to help older adults build essential cybersecurity skills and receive personalized technology support that empowers them to stay connected.Through this grant, our team successfully delivered four Cybersecurity Basics workshops, reaching 56 older adult learners in the Bay Area. The workshops combined the high-quality AT&T Digital Literacy Resources (connect.ncoa.org/ATTDigitalLiteracySeniorCenters) with digitalLIFT's own Internet Safety curriculum (digitallift.org/teach-online-safety/), giving participants practical strategies to recognize scams, create strong passwords, protect personal information, and safely use technology in their daily lives.Read full article: digitallift.org/thank-you-ncoa-advancing-digital-safety-and-confidence-for-older-adults/#NCOA #AT&TDigitalLiteracySeniorCenters #DigitalSafety #digitalLIFT ... Board Member Spotlight: Keri Vogtmann—At digitalLIFT, our board members bring a wealth of experience and a shared belief that technology should create opportunities, not barriers. This month, we’re excited to introduce Keri Vogtmann, Chair of digitalLIFT's Development Committee, whose career has focused on making technology more accessible, intuitive, and meaningful for everyone.“The most innovative technology has little impact if the people it’s designed to serve can’t, or won’t, use it confidently,” she explains.Thank You, Keri!—digitalLIFT is grateful for Keri’s leadership, expertise, and passion for creating a more digitally inclusive future. Her perspective reminds us that technology is at its best when it empowers people, builds confidence, and ensures everyone has the opportunity to participate fully in our increasingly digital world.Read full article: https://digitallift.org/board-member-spotlight-keri-vogtmann/#DigitalInclusion #Leadership #digitalLIFT ...
